Escape-Room-Erlebnis in Asturien
Adventure Hunt ist eine neue Art der Erkundung, des Spaziergangs und des Outdoor-Spaßes.
Adventure Hunt has three self-guided outdoor escape room experiences in Asturias: one in the centre of Oviedo and two along the Senda del Oso, starting in Tuñón and Villanueva.
Each one is a little different. If you fancy exploring the streets, parks and historic centre of Oviedo, choose the Oviedo Centro Adventure Hunt. If you would rather get out of the city and enjoy some of the countryside Asturias is famous for, the two Senda del Oso hunts offer very different surroundings.
Adventure Hunt combines elements of an outdoor escape room, scavenger hunt and treasure trail. The puzzles use things that are already around you – signs, landmarks, statues, buildings and plenty of things you might normally walk straight past. You don’t need any special knowledge. You just need to look around, pay attention and work out the answers.
The Adventure Hunt app guides you from one puzzle to the next without simply asking you to follow a dot on a map. Finding your way is part of the adventure. The app runs on your own Android or iPhone, so there is no equipment to collect and no guide to meet.
Book online and start whenever you like. There are no fixed departure times, so you can plan your Adventure Hunt in advance or decide to do one on the day. Each booking covers a group of up to six people and is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.
Oviedo-Zentrum
Die Oviedo Adventure Hunt is the choice if you want to explore the city. The circular route is approximately 3 km and takes around 2 to 3 hours.
It takes you through Oviedo’s historic centre and Campo de San Francisco, using squares, streets, statues, fountains, public art and other features of the city to create the puzzles. Along the way you’ll visit some well-known parts of Oviedo, but you’ll also be looking for details that are very easy to miss when simply walking around.
This is the easiest choice if you are already staying in or visiting Oviedo and want a fun way to explore the city rather than following a traditional walking tour.
Senda del Oso – Tuñón
Die Tuñón Adventure Hunt starts close to the beginning of the Senda del Oso.
This is the most relaxed of our Asturias Adventure Hunts. The route is approximately 1 to 2 km, normally takes 1 to 2 hours and has relatively easy puzzles. It is particularly suitable for families, beginners or anyone who wants to combine a few puzzles with some time outdoors.
The surroundings are very different from Oviedo. Here the emphasis is much more on nature, the local environment and enjoying the start of one of Asturias’ best-known routes.
Senda del Oso - Villanueva
Die Villanueva Adventure Hunt offers another way to experience the Senda del Oso area.
It is also approximately 1 to 2 km and usually takes between 1 and 2 hours, but the puzzles require a little more observation than those at Tuñón. The route uses features of the village and traditional Asturian architecture, including hórreos, paneras and churches.
Choose Villanueva if you like looking for small details and want a slightly more challenging Adventure Hunt while exploring a traditional Asturian setting.
Which Adventure Hunt should you choose?
If you want to explore a city, choose Oviedo. If you want an easy, relaxed Adventure Hunt surrounded by nature, Tuñón is probably the best choice. If you prefer a village setting, traditional architecture and slightly more detailed observation puzzles, try Villanueva.
Of course, there is nothing stopping you from doing more than one. The three Adventure Hunts are deliberately different, so completing one doesn’t mean you know what to expect from the next.
Whichever you choose, take your time. There is no clock ticking and hints are available if you need them. Stop for a drink, something to eat or simply to enjoy your surroundings, then carry on when you’re ready.
Adventure Hunt is designed to make you look at places differently. You might have walked through an area many times before, but once somebody starts asking you questions about what is actually around you, it is surprising how much there is left to discover.

About Asturias
Asturias is on the north coast of Spain, between the Cantabrian Sea and the mountains of the Cordillera Cantábrica. It forms part of Green Spain and has more than 400 km of coastline, but you are rarely far from the mountains. This combination of coast, countryside and mountains gives Asturias a very different feel from many of the better-known holiday destinations in Spain.
The region has a long history. The Kingdom of Asturias emerged in the 8th century, with Cangas de Onís as its first capital before the capital moved to Oviedo. Asturias played an important part in the early medieval history of Spain, and some remarkable buildings from this period still survive, particularly the pre-Romanesque monuments around Oviedo.
For many visitors, the Picos de Europa are one of the highlights of Asturias. The national park contains some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in northern Spain, including Picu Urriellu, also known as Naranjo de Bulnes. Nearby are Covadonga and the famous Lakes of Covadonga, while Cangas de Onís makes a popular base for exploring this part of the region.
Asturias isn’t just about mountains. Its coastline has beaches, cliffs, fishing villages and seaside towns. Llanes and Ribadesella are among the best-known places on the eastern coast, while Cudillero, with its colourful houses clustered around a small harbour, is one of the most distinctive fishing villages in the region. Inland, places such as Somiedo are known for mountains, lakes, wildlife and walking.
Oviedo is the capital of Asturias, while Gijón is its largest city. Oviedo is particularly known for its historic centre, cathedral, pre-Romanesque architecture and the annual Princess of Asturias Awards. Gijón sits directly on the coast and combines beaches and a working port with the old fishing quarter of Cimavilla.
The Senda del Oso is another of Asturias’ well-known outdoor attractions. The walking and cycling trail follows sections of a former mining railway through valleys, woodland, tunnels and small villages. Its relatively gentle route makes it accessible to people who want to enjoy the Asturian countryside without heading high into the mountains.
Food and drink are also a big part of Asturias. The region is particularly famous for cider, or sidra, traditionally poured from high above the glass in its many sidrerías. Fabada asturiana is probably its best-known dish, while Asturias produces a huge variety of cheeses, including Cabrales.
Asturias covers around 10,600 square kilometres and has a population of just over one million people. Despite its relatively small size, the landscape changes quickly. It is quite possible to visit a historic city, mountains, countryside and the coast during the same trip, which is one of the things that makes Asturias such an interesting part of northern Spain.
