Santander Escape Room Experience

Adventure Hunt is a new way to explore, enjoy a stroll and have some fun in the Santander sun. Only 19.50€ per group.

Adventure Hunt is a new outdoor escape room experience in Santander. It is similar to escape rooms and scavenger hunts. Each puzzle uses items in plain sight.  They might be murals, buildings, landmarks, water features, statues, play areas, or information boards.  The questions are designed to make you think and pay attention, making for a fun group activity.

The Santander Adventure Hunt comes in two different versions, so you can pick the one that suits your group best! Both routes start and finish at Plaza Porticada, in the heart of downtown Santander. For the best experience, we recommend playing in groups of 2 to 4 people. If you’re a bigger group, splitting into smaller teams can turn it into a fun, friendly competition.

STANDARD ROUTE

Our Standard Hunt includes 26 clues over 3 km, with about 12 meters of gradual elevation along the way. Most groups take between 1 and 2 hours, but there’s no rush.
The Standard Hunt is great for adults and families with older children who want to really explore the city and enjoy a bit of a challenge. The route takes you through some of Santander’s most charming streets.

You’ll solve a mix of puzzles as you go, discovering hidden corners, cultural landmarks, and local details through some fun facts. We also suggest a few optional detours if you feel like exploring even more. The hunt finishes back at Plaza Porticada, just a short walk from the waterfront where you can grab an ice cream and enjoy views of the bay once you’re done.

Bring some water, maybe a snack, and take your time. If you prefer to enjoy some local foods or refreshments along the way, you’ll be in the perfect area of the city to do so, with restaurants and bars galore!

FAMILY ROUTE

Our Family Hunt is a shorter, kid-friendly option with 20 clues over 1 km. This route is wheelchair and stroller friendly. The Family Hunt is designed with younger kids in mind. It follows a shorter, flat, and accessible route from Plaza Porticada to Centro Botín and back, mostly through a park and a few nearby side streets. The clues are simpler and more playful, so everyone can join in!

Gather your friends or family, challenge your minds, and discover Santander in a brand new way. Adventure is waiting! Are you ready?

Santander FAQ

Is the Santander Adventure Hunt an escape room?

The Adventure Hunts are not an escape room, but it is a fun experience with similar challenges that need some teamwork and lateral thinking. It is very enjoyable for people who enjoy escape rooms. Everything takes place outside, at your own pace – there is no race against the clock. In fact, we encourage people to take a break for a drink, or something to eat and enjoy the lovely surroundings that the Adventure Hunt is set in.

Is Adventure Hunt a walking tour of Santander?

The Adventure Hunt in Santander takes you along the beautiful promenade and city center, showing you some places that you were possibly not aware of. However, it is not a replacement for a historical or guided walk as the focus is on having fun rather than learning.

Is the Santander escape room experience suitable for families?

The Santander Adventure Hunt is available in English, Spanish, German, Dutch, French, Italian and Portuguese.

About santander

ABOUT SANTANDER

Santander is the capital city of the autonomous community and historical region of Cantabria, in northern Spain. This elegant coastal city is located on the shores of the Bay of Santander, opening into the Cantabrian Sea. Surrounded by lush green hills and dramatic coastlines, Santander is known for its maritime heritage, refined architecture, and mild oceanic climate.

WHERE OCEAN BREEZE MEETS NORTHERN CHARM

Santander has roots going back to Roman times. It flourished during the Middle Ages as a key fishing and trading hub and was officially declared a city in 1755. Its role as the port for Castile led to increased wealth and cultural development, particularly in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1941, a devastating fire destroyed much of the historic center, but the city rebuilt, blending classic elegance with modern touches. Today, Santander is known as a vibrant coastal city with a thriving cultural scene, pristine beaches, and a rich gastronomic tradition centered on fresh seafood and hearty regional specialties.

MUST-VISIT ATTRACTIONS AND HIDDEN GEMS IN SANTANDER

Palacio de la Magdalena: Perched on a peninsula with sweeping sea views, this 20th-century palace served as the royal family’s summer home. It has been used as a filming location for several movies and TV series, including the 2001 film “The Others”—directed by Alejandro Amenábar and starring Nicole Kidman—and the Spanish TV series “Gran Hotel.” A visit to the peninsula wouldn’t be complete without stopping by the open-air mini-zoo near the entrance, which houses penguins, seals, and sea lions.

Playa del Sardinero: Sardinero Beach is the city’s largest beach. Lined by elegant promenades and old-fashioned hotels, it has a nostalgic Belle Époque feel. You can often find locals playing palas (a traditional Spanish beach paddle game), wind surfing, and fishing on the edges of the beach.

Playa de Somo: To escape the city for a while, take a 20-30 minute ferry from Santander to Somo. Somo Beach features roughly 2km of golden sand, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, long strolls, and surfing.

Senda de Mataleñas & Cabo Mayor Lighthouse: Take this stunning coastal walking trail starting at the northern end of Sardinero Beach to take in some of the best views of the city and its coast. Offering dramatic views of cliffs, coves, and the wild Cantabrian Sea, this paved trail is a favorite spot among locals for hiking, jogging, or simply enjoying fresh sea air and views. The path will eventually lead you to a more hidden city beach: Playa de Mataleñas. Just further north stands the Cabo Mayor lighthouse, a 19th century beacon that still guides ships into the bay of Santander.

Barrio Pesquero: The Fisherman’s Quarter is one of Santander’s most traditional and authentic neighborhoods. Known for its strong maritime character, this working-class neighborhood developed in the 1950s has a down-to-earth, local vibe, with colorful low-rise houses, murals depicting fishing life, and family-run businesses. It’s especially famous for its seafood restaurants, where you can enjoy everything from fresh fish to grilled sardines.

Tapas-Hopping: Visit Plaza de Cañadío, Paseo de Pereda, Mercado del Este, and other small streets (such as Hernán Cortés, Calle Daoiz, Calle Bonifaz, Calle Santa Lucía, and Calle Peña Herbosa) for a wide selection of tapas and refreshing drinks. Local favorites include Casa Lita, Bodega Fuente Dé, and Cañadío.
