Adventure Hunt is a new outdoor escape room experience in Santa Pola, a charming seaside town just 20 km south of Alicante. If you love escape rooms and treasure hunts, you’ll feel right at home: You’ll solve clever riddles by observing the real world around you — statues, murals, plaques, information signs, roman ruins, street and building details, and more.

Some clues are straightforward; others reward sharp eyes and a good memory (because yes — sometimes you’ll need something you noticed earlier). It’s designed to be fun, not frustrating. And if you ever get stuck, hints are available so the adventure keeps moving forward.
The Adventure Hunt App guides you from clue to clue with clear directions — not just a dot on a map. Available on iPhone and Android.

Right now, only Santa Pola Center route is available but keep an eye on this page to learn when we release new hunts in the area.

This route features 22 clues spread over 2.7 km and takes you through Santa Pola’s old town and parts of the harbor, mixing iconic highlights with easy-to-miss gems.

Your adventure begins at the main entrance of the Santa Pola Fortress and leads you through narrow streets, lively squares, and green corners of the town. Along the way you’ll spot famous landmarks like:

  • The Fortress (Castillo-Fortaleza)
  • La Glorieta
  • Plaza de Abastos
  • Casa de la Cultura
  • El Palmeral
  • Paseo marítimo
  • The aquarium
  • The harbor area & fish market

…and you’ll also uncover smaller details many visitors walk past — like murals, monuments & statues, and tucked-away squares that tell the story of Santa Pola in surprising ways.

The route is circular: Your first clue is inside the fortress walls, and your final clue brings you to Calle Muelle, the well-known pedestrian street that leads back to the square in front of the fortress.

Take as much time as you need to complete it and feel free to spend some time admiring the wonders of Santa Pola along the way. Since there’s no time limit, you can even enjoy a drink or a meal at one of the many local restaurants and bars in the town center or on the harbor promenade. If you decide to do the adventure hunt without taking a break, it can take you 2-3 hours depending on how observant you are and how quickly you solve the puzzles.

You can do the Adventure Hunt all year-round during daylight hours. Summer tip: It can get hot, so bring water and consider a hat — morning or early evening often feels best.

Santa Pola FAQ

Is the Santa Pola Adventure Hunt an escape room?

Not exactly — it’s a mix of an outdoor escape room and a scavenger hunt.

You’ll solve puzzles that require teamwork and lateral thinking, but instead of being locked in a room or racing the clock, you explore Santa Pola at your own pace. Everything happens outdoors, using real landmarks as clues, and there’s no time limit, so you can pause anytime to enjoy a drink, food, or the surroundings.

Perfect for escape room fans who want something more relaxed and social.

Is the Adventure Hunt a walking tour of Santa Pola?

Not quite. While the Adventure Hunt takes you through Santa Pola’s old town streets and harbor areas — including spots you might not discover on your own — it’s not a traditional walking tour.

The focus is on solving puzzles and having fun, not on detailed historical explanations or guided commentary. You’ll pick up interesting facts along the way, but the experience is designed as a game first, sightseeing second.

Is the Santa Pola Adventure Hunt suitable for tourists?

Yes. It’s a fun, interactive way to discover Santa Pola, especially if it’s your first visit. You’ll explore the town while solving puzzles, with no local knowledge required.
Whether you’re visiting for a few days, coming on a day trip, or looking for something engaging to do with out-of-town guests, the Adventure Hunt offers an easy and enjoyable way to explore Santa Pola together.

Is the Santa Pola Adventure Hunt suitable for families?

Yes. It’s a family-friendly outdoor activity designed to be enjoyed together.

The game encourages teamwork and observation, with no time pressure, so families can take breaks whenever needed. Children enjoy spotting details and solving clues, while adults help connect the dots, making it a shared experience rather than something just for one age group.

Do we need any prior knowledge or special skills?

No. All puzzles are solved by observing your surroundings. You don’t need local knowledge, trivia skills, or experience with escape rooms — just curiosity, attention, and teamwork.

Are the clues complicated?

Not really — they’re designed to be solved by looking around you. All puzzles are based on details you can spot in your surroundings, such as signs, statues, murals, or small details you might otherwise walk past.

Some clues are easier, others more challenging, and a few might make you think twice. That’s where teamwork (and hints, if needed) comes in. Children may need help with certain puzzles, but that’s part of the fun — and we promise there are no impossible-to-solve clues.

How long does the Santa Pola Adventure Hunt take?

Most groups take 2–3 hours to complete the Adventure Hunt if they play straight through. There’s no time limit, so you can take breaks whenever you like and enjoy Santa Pola at your own pace.

What should we bring with us?

A charged smartphone, comfortable walking shoes, and a bit of curiosity. In summer, we also recommend water, sunscreen, and a hat.
This experience involves walking and careful observation of your surroundings.

What language is the Santa Pola Adventure Hunt available in?

The Adventure Hunt is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese. The app automatically uses the default language of your phone, so you can start playing right away without changing any settings.

We are a large group — what’s the best way to play?

For the best experience, we recommend teams of 2–4 people so everyone can stay involved.

If you’re a larger group, simply split into teams and turn it into a friendly competition. The Adventure Hunt App shows live scores, so you can see how your team compares to others during the game.

To avoid crowding at clues, we suggest starting teams about 10 minutes apart. If you’re organizing multiple groups and want to start at the same time, contact us in advance — we can set up a special configuration so each team begins on a different clue.

We’re splitting into teams and turning it into a race — how do we win?

Easy: By having fun!

That said, if you like a bit of friendly competition, the Adventure Hunt does include a scoring system. Each clue is worth up to 20 points, and using a hint costs 2 points. Collect as many points as you can along the way and compare your score with your friends — or even with other groups who’ve completed the hunt. Bragging rights included.

Can my friends or family follow the Adventure Hunt on their own phones?

Yes. The Adventure Hunt App includes a shadowing option.

One phone acts as the “main phone” for submitting answers, while everyone else can follow the hunt on their own devices and actively participate. Simply log in using the details and instructions you receive by email after purchasing the Adventure Hunt.

About Santa Pola

Santa Pola is a coastal town on Spain’s Costa Blanca, located just 20 km south of Alicante and only 15 minutes by car from Alicante Airport. What was once a small fishing village has developed into a seaside town that still proudly preserves its roots. Today, Santa Pola attracts visitors with its long sandy beaches, natural harbor, and relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere.

Narrow streets full of history sit just a short walk from the sea, while the harbor area offers space to slow down and enjoy everyday town life. Whether you’re looking to relax by the beach, enjoy a lively summer evening, or take a long coastal walk — including the scenic promenade stretching from La Cadena to the Salinas (over 6 km long) — Santa Pola offers a balance of calm and activity that appeals to many different travel styles.

A Town Shaped by the Sea

Santa Pola’s story has always been closely tied to the sea. As early as the 4th century BC, the area was home to Iberian settlements, drawn by the natural harbor and its strategic position along the coast. During the Roman era, Santa Pola became Portus Illicitanus, an important Mediterranean port connecting nearby Illici (modern-day Elche) with the wider Roman world. Fishing, salt, and trade shaped everyday life — and traces of this past remain visible around town.

By the 16th century, pirate raids along the coast made defense essential, leading to the construction of the Castillo-Fortaleza in the mid-1500s. Around the fortress, Santa Pola gradually grew, supported by fishing and salt production from the nearby salinas. Over time, this small fortified settlement evolved into the town Santa Pola is today — still an active fishing port, still defined by the castle and salt flats, but also a place that welcomes visitors year-round.

People now come to Santa Pola for beach holidays, short city breaks, and for the events and celebrations that bring the town to life throughout the year — from sporting events in winter to traditional festivities in summer and early autumn.

Must-See Attractions & Landmarks in Santa Pola

Santa Pola may be compact, but it’s rich in landmarks that reflect its history, everyday life, and close relationship with the sea. At the heart of the town stands the Castillo-Fortaleza, the 16th-century fortress that once protected Santa Pola from pirate raids and still shapes the town center today. Just outside its walls, you’ll find La Glorieta, a leafy square that locals use as a meeting point and a place to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.
As you move through the old town, you’ll pass places that show Santa Pola’s daily rhythm. The Plaza de Abastos reflects the town’s strong food and market culture, while the Casa de la Cultura highlights its artistic and community life. Nearby, the Palmeral offers a green contrast to the surrounding streets — a quiet spot that feels far removed from the busy seafront, despite being only a short walk away.

Down by the water, Santa Pola’s identity as a fishing town comes fully into view. The harbor and promenade are lined with restaurants and bars, while the fishing harbor and fish market reveal a side of town that’s still very much working and authentic. From the same area, boats depart to Tabarca Island, linking Santa Pola to one of the region’s most popular day trips. The nearby aquarium, one of the oldest in the Valencian Community, offers a glimpse into the marine life of the Mediterranean.

Finally, Calle Muelle, one of Santa Pola’s best-known pedestrian streets, ties everything together — connecting the harbor with the town center and bringing you back to where Santa Pola’s story, past and present, meets.

Virgen del Carmen Festivities (July)

A deeply rooted local celebration honouring the patron saint of fishermen, featuring a maritime procession from the harbour. The town’s strong connection to the sea is especially visible during this time.

Summer Cultural Events & Concerts (July–August)

Open-air concerts, performances, and family-friendly events take place throughout the summer, especially along the promenade and in town squares — perfect for combining sightseeing with a fun outdoor activity.

Fiestas Patronales & Moros y Cristianos (September)

Santa Pola’s main annual festivities, with parades, music, fireworks, and historical reenactments that fill the town with color and energy for several days.
