Campello FAQ
Is the Alicante Adventure Hunt an escape room?
The Alicante Adventure Hunts are not an escape room but it is a fun experience with similar challenges that need some teamwork and lateral thinking. It is very enjoyable for people who enjoy escape rooms. Everything takes place outside, at your own pace – there is no race against the clock. In fact, we encourage people to take a break for a drink or something to eat and enjoy the lovely surroundings that the Adventure Hunt is set in.
Is Adventure Hunt a walking tour of Alicante?
The Adventure Hunt in Alicante City takes you along the beautiful promenade and around the narrow streets of the fishing quarter, showing you some places that you were possibly not aware of. However, it is not a replacement for a historical or guided walk as the focus is on having fun rather than learning.
Is the Alicante city escape room experience suitable for families?
Yes, Adventure Hunt is great for families.
are the clues complicated?
This is a really difficult question! What we can say is that out of the 10 initial test groups, no single clue was found to be difficult by all groups. Every group did find a couple to be quite challenging, but they were almost always different clues from the other groups.
So we can assure you that you are not faced with any impossible puzzles.
How do I win?
Having fun is winning so there is no need to be too focused on the score. That said, Adventure Hunt has a scoring system, with each clue offering a maximum of 20 points. Collect as many points as you do your Adventure Hunt and compete with friends and other groups.
Can we compete against another group?
Live scores are available within the Adventure Hunt App. You will be able to see the scores of everyone doing the same hunt as you on the Clue Completed page. We encourage a 10-minute break between groups.
Please contact us if you have multiple groups. We can put up a specific configuration so that all of your groups can start on separate clues at the same time.

About Campello
ABOUT CAMPELLO, ALICANTE
Nestled along the Costa Blanca, just a short tram ride north of Alicante city, El Campello is a coastal gem that blends traditional charm with modern comforts. This seaside town offers a slower pace of life, with an authentic Spanish feel, gorgeous beaches and coves, and a deep connection to its maritime and archaeological roots. With its scenic promenade, bustling marina, and relaxed atmosphere, El Campello is perfect for travellers who want to soak up the Mediterranean sun without the hustle of more crowded destinations. Whether you’re a history lover, a foodie, or simply in search of coastal peace, El Campello invites you to stay a while and unwind.
A SEASIDE TOWN WITH DEEP ROOTS
El Campello’s history stretches back thousands of years, with archaeological finds dating as far back as the Bronze Age. The area was once an important Iberian settlement and later a Roman hub, thanks to its strategic coastal location. These layers of history are still visible today, from ancient ruins to medieval watchtowers standing guard over the sea. Despite its rich past, El Campello has grown into a modern town with excellent amenities, charming local markets, and a thriving fishing port that continues to supply the town’s restaurants with fresh catches daily.
The heart of El Campello is its sprawling beach, which stretches all the way to Playa de San Juan (where you can enjoy another Adventure Hunt route!) With golden sand, calm waters, and plenty of space to spread out, it’s a favourite spot for both locals and visitors. The beachfront promenade is ideal for leisurely strolls, lined with palm trees, tapas bars, and ice cream shops—perfect for sunset watching or people-watching.
MUST-VISIT ATTRACTIONS AND HIDDEN GEMS IN EL CAMPELLO
- Playa del Carrer la Mar and Playa Muchavista: El Campello boasts two main beaches – Carrer la Mar by the town centre, and Muchavista to the south. Both offer soft sand, crystal-clear waters, and excellent facilities for swimming, sunbathing, or trying out water sports like paddleboarding or kayaking. Between them is a dog beach, so your furry friends can enjoy the sea too!
- El Campello Marina & Fishing Port: A lively area with boats bobbing in the harbour, the marina is perfect for a seaside walk or enjoying fresh seafood at one of the many harbour-front restaurants. You can often see fishermen unloading their daily catch.
- Mercado Central (Central Market): Experience local life at this bustling market, where you can find everything from just-caught fish and locally grown produce to homemade pastries and traditional Spanish delicacies.
- La Illeta dels Banyets: This fascinating archaeological site is a must-see. Located on a rocky outcrop by the marina, it contains remains from the Iberian, Roman, and Islamic periods. You can wander through ancient fish farms, thermal baths, and living quarters, all with sweeping views of the sea.
- Torre de la Illeta: Just beside the archaeological site stands this 16th-century watchtower, once used to spot pirates approaching from the Mediterranean. Climb to the top (if open) for a fantastic panoramic view of the coast.
CELEBRATIONS IN EL CAMPELLO
- Moros y Cristianos (Moors and Christians Festival): Held in October, this is El Campello’s biggest and most dramatic celebration. With elaborate parades, mock battles, fireworks, and traditional music, the festival commemorates the Reconquista (when Christian kingdoms in the Iberian Peninsula gradually reclaimed territory from Muslim rule), as well as the region’s medieval past. The entire town transforms into a stage for this colourful historical reenactment.
The parade really is a sight to behold, but prepare yourself, because it lasts for about 4 hours!!
Top tips: Grab a seat near a bar, and take a portable phone charger with you because you will take a LOT of photographs.
- Semana Santa (Holy Week): Like many Spanish towns, El Campello celebrates Easter with solemn religious processions, traditional music, and local gatherings. It’s a great time to see the town’s cultural and religious traditions up close.
- Festa del Carme (Our Lady of Mount Carmel): Celebrated in July to honour the patron saint of fishermen, this is one of the most heartfelt local traditions. The highlight is a sea procession where a statue of the Virgin is carried on a decorated fishing boat, followed by other vessels, creating a moving tribute to the town’s maritime heritage.
- Summer Concerts: The town offers free open-air music performances at the Plaza de la Iglesia (Church Square) or along the Promenade (Paseo Marítimo) by the beach. These spots provide a great atmosphere with ocean views and fresh sea air. They usually take place late evening around 9-10pm, often with Spanish and international artists performing. They feature a variety of music genres, from local flamenco performances to pop, jazz, and rock bands, along with classical and folk music, attracting a mix of families, tourists, and locals.
- Beach Cinema: During the summer months, and outdoor film screenings, which are free. The are perfect for families or a romantic night under the stars. The screens are usually set up at the Puerto Deportivo (Marina), or on the Playa de Muchavista, playing family friendly films as well as popular blockbusters. They also tale place late evening around 9-10pm, when the hot summer temperature has cooled down a little.
El Campello is a perfect mix of natural beauty, cultural depth, and laid-back living. Whether you want to spend your days exploring ancient ruins, dining on fresh seafood by the sea, or simply lounging on a quiet beach, this town offers something for every traveller. Its convenient location—just 20 minutes by tram from Alicante city—means you can enjoy the calm of a smaller town without missing out on the region’s bigger attractions.
With its golden beaches, historical treasures, and warm community spirit, El Campello is more than just a day trip—it’s a place where visitors can truly slow down, connect with the coast, and savour the essence of Mediterranean life.
