Street art has transformed towns across southern Europe from ordinary seaside destinations into open-air galleries. Walls that were once blank now tell stories, provoke thought, and draw visitors who want to see something beyond the usual tourist trail.

Adventure Hunt’s street art routes combine this visual culture with something you will not find on a traditional street art tour: puzzles. Instead of simply walking past murals and reading a guidebook, you use the art as part of the clues. The murals, the colours, the details, the signatures, the hidden meanings — they all become part of the challenge.

Currently, we offer dedicated street art puzzle walks in two locations, with more planned for the future.

Street Art in Lagos, Portugal

Lagos is one of the Algarve’s most beautiful historic towns, and in recent years it has also become one of its most interesting for street art. The town’s narrow streets, old walls, and quiet corners have attracted artists who have created a growing collection of murals, paste-ups, and installations.

The Lagos Street Art Adventure Hunt takes you through the town specifically to discover and interact with this art. Unlike the Lagos Old Town route (which covers the historic centre, harbour, and city walls), the street art route focuses on the murals and uses them as the basis for the puzzles.

You will need to look closely at the art — colours, patterns, text, symbols, and details that most people photograph from a distance but never truly examine. The puzzles challenge you to see the art in a new way, making this a deeper experience than a simple walking tour.

Price: €19.50 per group. Clues: 20+. Distance: approximately 2 km. Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours at a relaxed pace.

Street Art in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife

Puerto de la Cruz, on Tenerife’s northern coast, is a town with a split personality. The historic centre is full of traditional Canarian architecture, colonial churches, and shaded plazas. But weave through the side streets and you will discover a vibrant street art scene that most visitors miss entirely.

The Puerto de la Cruz Street Art Adventure Hunt takes you through these less-visited areas, using the murals and urban art installations as the foundation for puzzles. It is a completely different experience from the standard Puerto de la Cruz route, which covers the more traditional landmarks of the town.

Price: €19.50 per group. Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours.

Why Combine Street Art with a Puzzle Walk

Most street art tours are passive experiences. A guide walks you through the neighbourhood, points at murals, and tells you about the artists. You listen, nod, take a photo, and move on. By the end, you have a phone full of pictures but you have not really engaged with the art.

Adventure Hunt’s street art routes make you active. The puzzles force you to look at the art differently — to count things, notice details, decode messages, and connect clues. You leave with a genuine understanding of what you saw, not just a collection of Instagram photos.

It is also a great introduction to street art for people who would not normally seek it out. If someone in your group thinks street art is “just graffiti,” they will change their mind after spending 90 minutes solving puzzles that reveal how much thought, skill, and meaning goes into every piece.
