Faro Escape Room Experience

Faro Adventure Hunt is an interactive experience that combines elements of scavenger hunts, treasure trails, walking tours, and escape rooms. Think of it as a self-guided puzzle walk – blending sightseeing with problem-solving, turning a simple walk into an engaging and inspiring experience. Only 19.50€ per group.

Explore the delights of Faro, the vibrant capital of the Algarve, on a 2km self-guided walking trail. Using the Adventure Hunt app (available on Android and iPhone), you’ll follow clues, solve puzzles, and uncover fascinating fun facts as you go — with helpful hints available whenever you need them.

The trail takes you through Faro’s must-see highlights, from the historic cobbled streets of the medieval Old Town (Cidade Velha) to the tiled boulevards of the bustling shopping district, and the palm-lined harbour. Along the way, you’ll also discover hidden gems, including the traditional São Pedro district, known for its local character.
With 19 stops along the route, the experience takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. Free parking is available nearby (a 10-minute walk), and both the bus and train stations are just 5 minutes-walk away.

Family-friendly: play with your partner, your kids, or even grandad. Our Hunts are ideal for anyone aged 8+. No specific knowledge needed.

All-weather activity: cloudy or rainy day? Grab an umbrella and head out. There are plenty of warming coffee & cake stops along the trail.
Excellent value: only €19.50 per group – that’s less than 5€ per person for a fun family experience (recommended group size 2-4). If you’re a big group, we recommend you split into teams of 4.

Faro FAQ

Is Adventure Hunt Faro an escape room?

Adventure Hunt Faro is not an escape room but it is a fun experience with similar challenges and is enjoyable for people who enjoy escape rooms.  Everything takes place outside, at your own pace – there is no race against the clock.  In fact, we encourage people to take a break for a drink or something to eat and enjoy the lovely surrounding that the Adventure Hunt is set in.

The real similarity is that the puzzles require a degree of teamwork and lateral thinking.

Is Adventure Hunt a walking tour of Faro?

The Adventure Hunt in Faro takes you along the historic cobbled streets of the medieval Old Town (Cidade Velha) to the tiled boulevards of the bustling shopping district. It shows you some places that you were possibly not aware of. However, it is not a replacement for a historical or guided walk as the focus is on having fun rather than learning.

Is This New Faro escape room experience suitable for families?

Yes, Adventure Hunt is great for families. We recommend a minimum age of 8-12.

Are the clues complicated?

This is a really difficult question! What we can say is that out of the 10 initial test groups, no single clue was found to be difficult by all groups. Every group did find a couple to be quite challenging, but they were almost always different clues from the other groups.

So we can assure you that you are not faced with any impossible puzzles.

How do I win?

Having fun is winning so there is no need to be too focused on the score.   That said, Adventure Hunt has a scoring system, with each clue offering a maximum of 20 points.  Collect as many points as you do your Adventure Hunt and compete with friends and other groups.

Can we compete against another group?

Live scores are available within the Adventure Hunt App. You will be able to see the scores of everyone doing the same hunt as you on the Clue Completed page. We encourage a 10-minute break between groups.

Please contact us if you have multiple groups. We can put up a specific configuration so that all of your groups can start on separate clues at the same time.

About Faro

Faro is one of southern Portugal’s oldest settlements. Under the Roman Empire, the city—then known as Ossonoba—became an important trading hub linking Iberia to the wider Mediterranean. During the Moorish rule of Iberia, Faro flourished culturally and architecturally, gaining fortified walls and a refined urban layout. The influence of the Moors can still be seen today in the narrow streets and arches of the old town.

Faro was reconquered in 1249 by Afonso III of Portugal, marking its integration into the Portuguese kingdom. In 1596, the city was attacked and partially burned by English forces led by Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, an event that shaped its later reconstruction. Despite damage from the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, Faro rebuilt itself and preserved its historic core. The city’s cathedral, Sé de Faro, stands as a symbol of resilience, blending Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles from different eras. Today, Faro’s layered history—from Roman port to Moorish stronghold to modern gateway—offers visitors a uniquely rich and authentic Portuguese experience.
