Lagos Street Art, Portugal
This Adventure Hunt is a celebration of urban artists, and takes place in Lagos, the home of street art in the Algarve. As you wander through the narrow streets of Old Town Lagos, you’ll be introduced to a range of different styles of artwork, from huge murals to small stencils, by local and international urban artists, spanning over a decade. The route is around 3km and is mostly level but many of the streets are cobbled and there are some steps to navigate. Allow around 2 hours at a relaxed place to complete.

More Information
Lagos is famous for its street art, notably the giant colourful murals that decorate the walls of the town. Follow the 3km trail around the cobbled streets of the old town and along the waterfront to discover some of the finest of these fabulous artworks. Using the Adventure Hunt App (available on both Android and iPhone) to guide you, find the murals, solve the puzzles – with helpful hints if you get stuck - and uncover ‘fun facts’ about the art and artists along the way.
It’s a loop walk (with 19 puzzles) starting and ending at Factory Fusion Hub in the old town. The trail is mostly level but many of the streets are cobbled and there are some steps to navigate. Parking is available on the waterfront nearby, as are the bus stops, and the train station is a 20-minute walk away.
Highlights:
- 30+ artworks, from huge murals to small stencils, by some of Europe’s finest urban artists spanning over a decade.
- LAC (Laboratório de Actividades Criativas) - the ‘home’ of Lagos street art - a non-profit cultural association that promotes the work of urban artists through its annual ARTURb project
- Factory Fusion Hub art gallery and café; a great place to buy retro clothing, gifts and local artwork.
As well as the wonderful murals, there are plenty of other interesting things to see along the route including the historic fish market, the iconic green tiled house in Praça Luís de Camoes, and the remains of the old city walls. Lagos is also a food-lovers paradise, and the old town has everything from traditional restaurants to fashionable upscale eateries to choose from. If you want to combine this Adventure Hunt with other activities, you could explore the sea caves around Ponta da Piedade headland by kayak, walk or cycle the boardwalk along Maia Praia’s 5km sandy beach, learn about the town’s maritime history at one of the museums, or get a surf lesson at Porto de Mos beach.
