Alvor Escape Room Experience
Adventure Hunt is a new way to enjoy a walk and have some fun in the Alvor sun.
Adventure Hunt is a new outdoor escape room experience in Alvor. It is similar to escape rooms and scavenger hunts. Each puzzle uses items in plain sight. They might be murals, statues, buildings or landmarks. The questions are designed to make you think and pay attention, making for a fun group activity.
The Adventure Hunt App helps you navigate between puzzles without simply asking you to follow a dot on a map. Hints can be used if you need assistance solving any of the puzzles. The App is available on both Android and iPhone.
The Alvor Hunt takes you along the pretty waterfront and around the narrow streets of the old town. Depending on the time of year, you could start or end the hunt with a short walk to the town's beautiful white sand beach. Or why not make a day of it, and take a picnic with you, or stop for lunch at one of the fantastic fish restaurants?
There are 2 hunts to choose from: Family or Standard. Both hunts are 2.1km long and have 20 clues; the Family Hunt making more use of observation and stronger hints if you can't work out the answer. They can be completed in around 2 hours, but you can take as long as you like - provided you finish before dark, or you might struggle to find the clues!
To ensure that everyone is actively involved, a group size of 2-4 persons is recommended. If your group is larger, we suggest dividing into two different groups.
The hunt starts in the car park next to the fishing hunts and Alvor sports complex. Buses No. 14 and 15 also stop nearby.
The Alvor Adventure Hunt is set in the seaside resort town of Alvor. Choose between the standard and family routes.
**T-shirts are not yet available for Alvor. The price has been reduced to 15€ to compensate for this.

Alvor FAQ
Is Adventure Hunt Alvor an escape room?
Adventure Hunt Alvor is not an escape room but it is a fun experience with similar challenges and is enjoyable for people who enjoy escape rooms. Everything takes place outside, at your own pace – there is no race against the clock. In fact, we encourage people to take a break for a drink or something to eat and enjoy the lovely surrounding that the Adventure Hunt is set in.
The real similarity is that the puzzles require a degree of teamwork and lateral thinking.
Is Adventure Hunt a walking tour of Alvor?
The Adventure Hunt in Alvor takes you on some interesting streets in the old town and near the city walls. It shows you some places that you were possibly not aware of. However, it is not a replacement for a historical or guided walk as the focus is on having fun rather than learning.
Is This New Alvor escape room experience suitable for families?
Yes, Adventure Hunt is great for families. Choose the Family option when you make your booking if you have children under the age of 8-12.
are the clues complicated?
This is a really difficult question! What we can say is that out of the 10 initial test groups, no single clue was found to be difficult by all groups. Every group did find a couple to be quite challenging, but they were almost always different clues from the other groups.
So we can assure you that you are not faced with any impossible puzzles.
If you are a family group then you should choose the family option. If unsure, choose the standard route.
How do I win?
Having fun is winning so there is no need to be too focused on the score. That said, Adventure Hunt has a scoring system, with each clue offering a maximum of 20 points. Collect as many points as you do your Adventure Hunt and compete with friends and other groups.
Can we compete against another group?
Live scores are available within the Adventure Hunt App. You will be able to see the scores of everyone doing the same hunt as you on the Clue Completed page. We encourage a 10-minute break between groups.
Please contact us if you have multiple groups. We can put up a specific configuration so that all of your groups can start on separate clues at the same time.

About Alvor
Situated roughly halfway between Portimão and Lagos is the pretty harbour village of Alvor. Given its position on the Algarve the village is remarkably unspoiled with the old village retaining much of its charm. Unlike many of the resorts along this coast it was the great earthquake of 1755 which did the greatest damage to this village and not the developers. Of course there has been building, but this has been low-rise and has largely left the core of the village and harbour unscathed. As a result Alvor has a calmer, less rowdy feel than some of the regions resort towns, and if you can live without a neon-lined strip of clubs and bars then this could be the place for you.
The history of Alvor is long, possibly dating back as far as the 4th century BC. During the Roman occupation of Iberia it was a prosperous port and later became the Moorish town of Al-bur. However, the village’s greatest claim to fame is as the place where King João II died in 1495. In more recent years still, it cemented its place in the history books as the venue for the negotiations which brought about the independence of the former Portuguese territory of Angola.
The old quarter of Alvor is set a little way inland on the banks of the Ria Alvor. From the riverside it isn’t far until you are on one of the winding cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses that lead up to the 16th century Igreja do Divino Salvador. This parish church is typical of the Algarve in many ways but is particularly notable for the flamboyant Manueline style entrance and the pillars carved into fishing ropes and plants.
Perhaps a little less impressive now than it was in its heyday is Alvor’s castle. The 13th century Moorish castle is very much diminished as much of the stone was used to rebuild the village after the 1755 earthquake. Today its low, red walls are home to a children’s play park.
One of Alvor’s greatest assets is the wide, palm tree-lined riverfront. Stretching out in both directions, the hub is the square of Largo Ribeira with its fish statue giving a hint at what’s on the menu here! There are a number of restaurants here all serving up what is regarded as some of the tastiest seafood in the region. If freshly caught fish isn’t your thing then there you’ll find a good range of restaurants back in the town serving everything from traditional Portuguese fare to curries.
From the square you can take a short pleasant walk along the river into what almost feels like the countryside. Head in the opposite direction, past the new fishermen’s huts and marina, as most people do, and you will soon find yourself on the vast expanse of golden sand that is Alvor beach.
