Forget hiring a venue. Forget party entertainers. Forget spending hundreds of euros on an afternoon that the kids will have forgotten by next week. An Adventure Hunt birthday party takes place outdoors, in the fresh air, costs a fraction of traditional party options, and gives every child a T-shirt to take home.

Here is how it works: split the children into teams of 3 to 5, give each team a phone with the Adventure Hunt App, and let them loose on a puzzle-solving route through town. They compete against each other in real time, solving clues that use signs, buildings, and features around them. The team with the highest score wins.

It is active, it is outdoors, it keeps them busy for 1 to 2 hours, and it costs from just €15 per team.

Why It Works for Birthday Parties

Kids love competition. The live scoring system means teams can see how they are doing against each other in real time. The desire to beat the other team keeps everyone focused, engaged, and laughing.

Everyone gets a T-shirt. Every Adventure Hunt purchase includes a T-shirt. Children’s sizes are available in our Tenerife locations, and you can add extra shirts to your order so every child goes home with one. It doubles as a party favour.

No adult supervision stress. The app guides the children from puzzle to puzzle, so an accompanying adult does not need to know the answers or run the activity. They just walk along and make sure nobody crosses a road without looking. The app does the rest.

It is incredibly affordable. Three teams of four children each costs just €45 to €58.50 total, depending on location. Compare that to a soft play party (€200+), a bowling party (€150+), or a theme park outing. Even adding pizza afterwards keeps the total well under €100.

The routes are compact. The best locations for birthday parties are the shorter, flatter routes where children do not have too far to walk. See the recommendations below.

Best Locations for Birthday Parties

Not every Adventure Hunt route is ideal for a children’s party. Here are the ones that work best:

El Medano, Tenerife — This is the most popular choice for birthday parties. The route is just 1.5 km with 20+ clues, and the compact layout means groups start and finish near the same area. Several birthday groups have already used this route successfully, with children splitting into teams of 4 or 5. The route passes the main square (Plaza Roja) and the beachfront, with plenty of ice cream shops and cafés nearby for the post-party celebration. The family route option has 18 clues and avoids the longer walk to the harbour wall. From €19.50 per team.

Los Abrigos, Tenerife — The most affordable option at just €15 per team. The route is only 1 km with 18 clues, all around the main square and port. Minimal walking makes it great for younger children (8–10). The fishing village setting is charming, and there are several restaurants for a group meal afterwards.

Albufeira Old Town, Algarve — A fun option for families on holiday in the Algarve. The winding streets and clifftop views keep it interesting, and there are plenty of places to stop for food and drinks.

Alicante routes — Several routes in Alicante work well, particularly the city centre route. Choose based on where you are and how far the children can walk.

Age Recommendations

Adventure Hunt’s family routes are designed for children aged 8 and above, accompanied by at least one adult per team. The clues in the family option are less cryptic than the standard version, and the hints are more helpful.

For children under 8, the puzzles may be too challenging even with adult help. For teenagers (13+), we recommend the standard route rather than the family option — they will enjoy the extra challenge.

How to Set It Up

  1. Choose your location from the recommendations above.
  2. Decide on team sizes. 3 to 5 children per team works best. Each team needs one adult with a smartphone.
  3. Purchase one Adventure Hunt per team from our booking page. Select the family option if available for your chosen location.
  4. Order extra T-shirts if you want one for every child (rather than one per team).
  5. Email us at info@adventure-hunt.com if you want all teams to start at the same time on different puzzles (recommended for the competitive element).
  6. Plan the post-party. Pick a restaurant, café, or picnic spot near the route’s end point for cake and celebrations.
